Mariel Adams, LICSW

Ms. Adams obtained her Bachelors in Psychology at University of Massachusetts Amherst specializing in Clinical and Child/Adolescent Psychology. Following this, she completed her education and training at Simmons University where she obtained a Master’s in Clinical Social Work with a dual licensure in School Adjustment Counseling. She has experience providing individual counseling to clients ranging from toddlers to older adults, as well as counseling and coaching support to parents and families.

Ms. Adams has provided therapy for clients with a range of needs such as early developmental delays and specialized learning/communication needs, Autism Spectrum Disorders, ADHD, Anxiety disorders, Depression, Bipolar, PTSD, Brief and Chronic Psychotic disorders, Traumatic Brain Injury, and other clinical needs (i.e. relationship skills, role adjustment, decision making).

Ms. Adams has worked in both schools as well as outpatient practice, providing individual and group therapy, early intervention services, in-home individual and family therapy, and clinical research settings. Her key clinical experience has been working individually with children and young adults to help nurture and support their psychosocial development through psychoeducation, experiential skill building, and empirically based therapeutic methods such as cognitive-behavioral therapy, dialectical-behavioral informed care, trauma informed care, attachment-based therapy, mindfulness, strengths-based and solution focused therapy, communication and social thinking skill building. Clinical modalities are flexible and often used based on the individual, clinical needs, and goals.

Ms. Adams has experience working with clients who identify as neurodivergent, LGBTQIA, and holds a culturally inclusive and responsive practice providing a non-judgmental and accepting stance.
